A striking hand-blown rosewater sprinkler in deep sea blue glass, made in India in the Indo-Persian tradition, circa 1920s-1940s. The classic ashkdan form features a long, sinuous swan neck with flared spout and bulbous body, blown in a dip mold and finished with a rough pontil on the base. 
Decorated by hand with polychrome enamels - pink roses, yellow blossoms, green foliage - highlighted with gilt enamel scrollwork.  The painting shows light wear and minor losses to the gilt, consistent with age and use, but no chips or cracks to the glass. Height approx. 12.75" x 4" diameter. A decorative, dislpay ready piece rooted in a form used across the Middle East and South Asia for centuries to sprinkle rosewater for guests at ceremonies and feasts. 
Note on Origin: While the swan-neck form originates in Persia (Iran), this vivid enamel palette is typical of North Indian (Luchnow) glasswork of the early-mid 20th century.
