Incredible vintage forest green (rare color) mohair wool coat with a delicate, loose wrap closure by Christian Dior from the late 1950’s to very early 1960's, from one of the store's Texas locations.
Made in USA.
Timeless design; beautiful inside and out. See photos of the piece turned inside out for your inspection.
This coat is extraordinary and is a beautiful, early example of Christian Dior’s work. This is the Dior Original, New York label so it is what is considered to be demi-couture from this time period of Dior’s history. These were made in, and for, the American market but were based on the runway designs and with many of the same high standard finishes that the true Haute Couture pieces incorporated.
The coat appears to have been worn very little. Love the ¾ length sleeves with large forest green buttons that are permanently stitched to the bottom of each sleeve and the boxy shape that is reminiscent of Balenciaga's style! Beautiful construction with hand stitched detailing throughout and stunning silk taffeta lining. The fabric is highly textured matte wool. Features side pockets and a forgiving fit that looks as great on a size small as a size large. There is no marked size, but the coat should work on anyone up to a Large. The bust and waist measure up to 44” and the total length measures 38.5”.
Beautiful condition with only a few loose stitches that need to be closed near the back bottom lining.
